BIO

Maria is a choreographer, director, filmmaker, and educator. Over the past two decades she has made original works for the stage and screen. She is the artistic director of Athletic Arts Center, a performing arts company in Jasper, AL, and a teaching artist in the Jasper City and Walker County School Systems.

Maria received her MFA in choreography from Wilson College, MA in dance education from the University of Northern Colorado and BA in dance from the University of Alabama. She has 200hr yoga teaching certification from New York Yoga and Dance for PD and is an American Ballet Theatre Certified Instructor.

Maria is active in the community serving as a board member for the Chamber of Commerce of Walker County, and as an advisory board member of the Walker County Arts Alliance. She is a professional member of National Dance Education Organization, Alabama Dance Council.
